Our founders, Daniela and Alondra, master’s students in Food Science and Technology, have comprehensive expertise across the entire food supply chain, from farm to table. Their extensive experience in agriculture, food safety, research and development, and sustainability unveiled widespread food waste issues at every production stage.
This profound understanding, combined with their significant roles in Quality Control across various industry sectors—including manufacturing, microbiology laboratories, and supermarkets—has deeply informed their perspective.
In these roles, they consistently upheld the highest standards of food safety and efficiency. Driven by these insights and their active involvement in food waste reduction and nonprofit initiatives addressing food insecurity, they were inspired to establish Next Cycle Foods.
Their mission is clear: to reduce food waste, enhance community well-being, and advance sustainability through innovative educational initiatives and practical solutions.
At Next Cycle Foods, we measure our success not just in profits, but in the positive changes we bring to our environment and communities. Here are some of the key metrics that showcase the tangible impact of our efforts:
23

Our Educational outreach goes to MIDA, high schools, universities, business programs, giving talks to farmers, at sustainability events, etc.
These esteemed programs have equipped us with invaluable resources, mentorship, and exposure, playing a pivotal role in our development and success.
Surplus foods are high-quality, fresh products that, for various reasons, were not sold in time by supermarkets, restaurants, and other establishments. These foods are still perfectly safe and delicious to consume but might end up in the trash if not rescued in time. While surplus food is not the same as food waste, it often ends up being wasted. Making the most of surplus food is an excellent way to reduce food waste (FAO, 2018).
We take food quality and safety very seriously. We work closely with our partner establishments to ensure that all foods sold through our app comply with food safety regulations. Additionally, we conduct regular checks and provide guidance to our partners to ensure that products remain fresh and safe for consumption.
Each food package listed on our app includes detailed information about allergens and dietary restrictions. This ensures that you can make informed choices and select items that meet your dietary needs and preferences.
